DESCRIPTION: Loperamide capsule is an anti-diarrhea medication used to treat diarrhea. Loperamide slows down the movement of the gut, allowing more water and electrolytes to be absorbed from the stool, which makes stools firmer and less frequent.

PRIMARY USE OF LOPERAMIDE

• Relieves symptoms of acute or chronic diarrhea
• Traveler’s diarrhea
• Diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
• Occasionally used to reduce the amount of stool in people with ileostomies
